Netherlands: Art & Architecture

This custom-designed program was conceived by faculty in the Yale School of Architecture who will lead you on a curated journey of discovery. Your focus is artistic and architectural brilliance as you tour Amsterdam, Utrecht, Otterloo, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Antwerp. Over ten days, you’ll see world-class museums such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk, alongside architectural landmarks from Berlage’s Amsterdam Stock Exchange to Rem Koolhaas’s contemporary designs. Delve into the avant-garde spirit of Dutch modernism at the Rietveld Schröder House and Dudok’s Hilversum Town Hall. At Otterloo you’ll learn about the Kröller-Müller Museum’s exceptional collection and sculpture garden. Then in Belgium, masterpieces by Horta and Van de Velde are among the Art Nouveau treasures you’ll encounter as your appreciation for design eras evolves. This program offers privileged access to spaces where architecture, the decorative arts, and art history intersect—an invitation to engage deeply with two nations that contributed to the contours of modernism.
