- About the Lecturer
Dr. Shimon Anisfeld, known to his students and colleagues as Shimi, sees himself as an educator first and a researcher second. Dr. Anisfeld has three primary areas of interest: freshwater management, coastal ecosystems, and synthetic organic pollutants. These inter-linked topics have driven his teaching and research at Yale over the last 2+ decades, including his 2010 book Water Resources, his forthcoming water management textbook, and his research on the response of salt marshes to sea-level rise and other stressors. Besides courses in coastal ecology, water management, and organic pollutants, Anisfeld also teaches Physical Science Foundations for Environmental Managers. Anisfeld sees water issues as central to the challenges facing the world in the coming decades, and hopes to help train environmental professionals who are well-equipped to face these challenges.
